Can I start monitoring someone today?
Not yet. The waitlist gets you access updates, not an active watchlist. We will share coverage, check frequency and pricing before you choose to activate monitoring. There is no confirmed launch date yet.
What information will I need to add someone?
Start with a name and last known location. Approximate age, previous names or known relatives help distinguish people with the same name. You do not need every detail. Only add information you are authorized to use; avoid sensitive documents.
Will they know I added them?
We do not plan to contact the people you add or publish your watchlist. The service is being built to check public notices quietly. Use it respectfully, without harassment or bypassing privacy boundaries.
How will you let me know about a possible match?
Email alerts are planned, with a link to the source and matching details. They are not active yet. An alert would mean a possible match needs review, not that a death has been confirmed.
Which countries and sources will be covered?
We are evaluating permitted public obituaries, funeral-home memorials and local notices. We will publish supported sources and locations before activating monitoring. Coverage will not include every country or every death.
What if there is no obituary, or the name is common?
No result does not mean someone is alive. Notices may be missing or delayed, and common names can produce false matches. Compare several identifying details with the original source before deciding it is the same person.
How is this different from searching or setting an alert?
Search is useful for an answer today. General alerts can help with future results. IfTheyDie is being built around ongoing notice checks, identifying details and a private review history, so you do not have to restart the search each time.
Can I correct or delete my information?
Yes. Request correction or deletion through our contact page. The privacy policy explains any records retained for security or legal obligations. We do not sell watchlist data.
